I am currently reading Eclipse from the Twilight Saga by Stephenie Meyer. Talk about an addicting saga that is for sure. I started out by reading New Moon two days ago and couldn't put it down. Now I am onto number 3 and I can't believer how addicting these books are. I have always liked reading but being older now I am getting more and more out of reading. Not only does it give me a chance to relax but it is so much more entertaining to me than watching TV. My boyfriend loves TV so it is on most of the time but I get so board with most of the shows he watches, reading my books use more brain power and I feel smart after reading a book unlike how I feel after watching "The Simpson's" or "My Name is Earl".
I have a little girl who loves books. She is 14 months old now and has been very interested in books since she was about 9 months old. I went to Walmart and got her the touch and feel books. She really seems to enjoy looking and touching all the pictures. I am very lucky because my parents are my babysitters and they have taking a lot of time to help her and get her interested in reading. I take a lot of time to read to her and she seems to like almost any book as long as there is a lot of pictures. She will point everything out and tries to tell you what it is.
I am really big on my children enjoying to read because I can see the major difference in my boyfriend Justin and I when it comes to reading. Justin would rather poke a fork in his eye than read a book. I don't think that it has anything to do with him not knowing how or it embarrassing him he just HATES reading. I love reading, have loved reading for as long as I can remember. I know that sometimes I don't really make enough time to read but I do try to when I have time. I think there is a lack of reading these days because of TV. TV has been around for quite a while but it just keeps getting more and more popular. If there is a book that is turned into a movie the average person will watch the movie and not even think twice about reading the book. We live in a time of convenience and watching a movie is so much easier than reading the book. The book may have more detail but it will take you 5 times a long to read as if you watched the movie. I am going to do my best to make sure that my children like reading, when they get into high school and college if they hate reading it will make everything harder.
I hope that I am not the only one who feels this way, maybe someday they will be equal. (TV to books)

Hi, again, Carmen. I agree with you! I think reading is very important. We lose a means of making mental pictures and of building empathy when we switch from books to movies. For myself, I can really relax with a good book. Time seems to slow down. With movies, I feel my heart rate increase, as if that invisible flickering on the screen makes me panicky. I still like movies, but they don't feel as relaxing as books. Nancy
